VISAS

Work Visas

Temporary Worker:

If you wish to work in the United States, you will need a visa.

The application process for a work visa can be complicated, and it is the U.S. employer’s responsibility to file an application in the U.S. and send you all the documents (copy of the I-29) petition and the original approved I-797 petition) to present at the Consulate during your interview.  In the majority of cases, applicants will have to present an approved work petition from the Department of Homeland Security of the United States (DHS).  If you have been offered employment in the United States, ask your prospective employer exactly what procedures he/she has followed to allow you to work legally in the U.S.

Requirements:

  • Mexican Passport (minimum 6 month validity)

  • A Banamex receipt for $131 U.S. (at current exchange rate) application fee. There may be additional fees for individuals obtaining work visas.

  • Completed (DS-156) form. Male applicants between the ages of 16 and 45 must also complete the supplimentary (DS-157) form.

  • Copy of the I-29 petition and original approved I-797 petition.

Please remember that these visas have an additional issuance fee. Your employer may provide you the exact ammount, that must be paid at the Consulate during your interview. We accept pesos, dollars or credit cards. For additional information please view the Visa Reciprocity Table.
